It has to be fun on your birthday, right? This time I had decided I wanted to go to the Côte d’Opale. A place at the French northwest coast, near Calais. You can just about do that on one day there and back from where I live, but my wife said, let’s make it a 2-day holiday and spend the night at Wisant. So we did. We left early and got to Wisant around 11a.m. Good timing to have lunch and then go to the beach and walk into the direction of Cap Blanc-New. Going there, the tide was out. But in going back we were surprised by the fact that it comes in pretty fast and if you’re an a bank, you could get caught and be surrounded by water before you know it! Luckily we saw that happening in time. The weather was great but fairly cold. So not many people on the beach. Always nice when you want to take pictures! We did not manage to get to the cap before having to head back because of the tide. But we drove up to the cap and had dinner there. And were treated to a nice sunset as well. The second day we went to the other side, the Cap Griz-Nez and drove to Ambleteuse with some stops on the way. However, the weather was quite different. Windy and even colder. Still I was able to get some nice images before we were treated to a fierce storm which would last for the rest of the day. All wet and cold we drove home but we had some nice images in the bag. What a way to celebrate your birthday!
